To Bathe in Eternal Rain

To Bathe in Eternal Rain

Do you fear to be free?

Are you afraid to fly,

To be, but not to be,

To be born as you die,

To bathe in eternal rain,

To wash off this mud,

You, clad in pain,

Imprisoned in flesh and blood!

Rest in Eternal Joy, Mary Ann Bryant.

This tribute is dedicated to my beloved sister, Mary Ann Bryant, born 21 June 1959, who passed away on 1 January 2026.

The Dove of Happiness is a poem written and narrated by Daniel F Mitchell, Editor of Anything Outdoors with Steve, in loving memory of a soul whose tenderness, strength, and quiet grace will never be forgotten.

Through imagery of hope, mercy, and renewal, this poem reflects the journey from sorrow to peace, and the eternal joy that now surrounds her.

May her memory remain a blessing, and may her spirit soar free.

The Dove of Happiness

The dove of happiness has been seeking you
for a lifetime of quiet redress.
She has heard your prayers, whispered
in the shadows of silent despair.

She knows the diversions you’ve chasedβ€”
futile attempts to distract your painβ€”
and the sting of thorns beneath
the feet of childhood innocence.

Why have you hidden from her
in the forest deep,
in the hold of a gloomy culvert,
with only silver moonlight
and the distant chorus of frogs
to cradle your sleep?

So long have you quenched your thirst
with drops of temporal solace,
when a stream of bliss flowed freely,
yearning for the eternal refreshment
of your soul.

The dove of happiness has longed
to see laughter bloom in your heart,
to lift you on her wings
and dance ecstatically
in the beams of morning sun.

At last, she has found you,
embracing you with the devotion
of a host of angels.
How delighted she must be
to discover such a tender rose,
blooming graciously from the briars.

With a single kiss, your pain is soothed,
your fear dissipates like mist
from melting frost.
Her love has unraveled the barbs
from the bloom, prickle by prickle,
until only the fragrance of joy remains.

Her love has burst you wide open,
ignited your spirit like a shooting star
across the heavens.

How radiant is her tender mercy,
carrying you on delicate wings!

Now the brook murmurs of her grace,
and the frogs sing in the forest deep,
pleased to know you are free
from mortal despair.

Only the angels know
the sacred joy you have become.
